(First post...whoo!)
I don't think Punk will ever be dead, it's going through a bad patch lately, despite the proliferation of decent hardcore punk bands lately. The Pop Punk explosion of the last two years...Good Charlotte, Simple Plan etc...hasn't helped the genre in any way, which is why a lot of people are acting adversely towards it of late.
I can understand why people are claiming that it's dead. It just hasn't been the same since the Clash split up...

True, but I think Pop Punk is good, it's just punk growing into different forms so it doesnt appeal to everyone but yeah I lost my point!

I don't know, am not sure, thats why i put 'who cares'? there's not really anyone around anymore like sex pistols or anyone, but then there's the argument as to whether what percentage of the word 'punk' is music based or fashion. I mean, Busted and Good Charlotte can dress as punk as they like, but they're still pop music. I think punk is more of a lifestyle thing now than music, unfortunately. When I think of 'punk' i think of rebellion and everything that the sex pistols stood for rather than a group of guys going round with a mohican singing about being on the streets. I mean woopee-fucking-doo, they might as be Puff diddy-daddy whatever, with a guitar, know what i mean?

the type of punk that we are unfortunately being fed by various tv channels 24/7 is pop-punk
maybe punk does exist right now in the vastness of the unknown... i think it does somewhere.
anyway im planning for a minor threat album review on the revival page and a Blink 182 (pesky i've changed my mind... !) by the end of the month
a feed-back punk special??

Possibly. Have not got my arse in gear for the New York Dolls review yet, they're punky. Good too.

I am the first person to say that yes, punk IS dead. (Will I get lynched for saying this) The way i see it is that despite there being some pretty decent punk bands out there the well of creative ideas has run dry. The same formula, chords and topics are being played over and over again. Nowadays anything new in the 'punk' genre borrows so heavily from other areas of music (see Thrice being classed as a punk band by some) that i feel that the punk is now a secondary thing to the borrowed areas. Pure punk is non existent due to the limitations of the genre. However parts of it live on in what punk has evolved and diversified into. As i have a biology exam in 2 days time for the science bit: got so different that is has become somethign different entirely. No longer punk but encorporated into other areas.

do i smell the first review for revival? and what did you think of my band's gig tonight/yesterday?

Well, i doubt it would really suit the revival thingum. It's only 6 years old...
And the gig was great. I think you had a tough break though. If you had been in the first heat i reckon you could have got through cos those bands were no way as good as the ones last night. Lostprophets clones will always win the day.
