Divided fairly equally between NME wank and decent bands. Very excited about QOTSA (if they rehire Nick), Incubus, Jimmy Eat World and Bloc Party.
And this is only the beginning - LOADS more good bands to be announced.

JEW, Kings Of Leon and Kasabian are the best ones there methinks. I reckon FFAF will be playing

Seems like a mix between last years and the year before's line up.
Nothing seem very new and exciting really. Though the real quality is usually in the tents.

hm im pretty scheptical about reading. i mean after having attended the chalet-ty - only 3000 peeps goodness of ATP (not to mention , having a decent shitter to yerself / beds / showers / a londis , and the fact that the bands are indoors , and their is a bar and club night till 6 in the morning) - i dont know if i could stomach over crowded tenty ness - standing about a mile back from the bands - squashed in , sound being blown by the wind of reading.
still im very tempted to get a day ticket , just for the day iggy and the stooges play.
further still - if my mates get their arses into gear and sort getting tickets for the vicent gallo curated ATP - thats means ill have been to TWO all tommrows parties , in as many months - and i will be far too smug to worry about reading

so far only Elbow really excites me, bloc party, futureheads and arcade fire would be cool too i suppose. Its usually the bands on the carling stage that excite me though so we'll have to see. I was thinking of doing truck fest this year anyway.

I've never been to Reading or Leeds. I don't think I'll be going this year either, it's not handsome enough to tempt me. Truck isn't that handsome either, but it's got a nice vibe and is pretty cheap so I think I'll be going there this summer.

Yeah, maybe if you're a total douche that think Leeds is a better time. ive never been to Leeds. i went to Reading for a few years and then realised there were less and less bands that i wanted to see, and that being herded like cattle and ripped off by everyone in a position to do so wasnt so cool. I saw Beck play the most amazing set there in 99 though. Roskilde is quite fun, and £150 for transport and tickets to a week long festival that isnt a corperate showcase or post-rock-gangbang seems good economic sense.

mmmm...post rock gangbang...
erm, yeh actually I did go to leeds last year, it was alright, i did spend the entire time watching bands but i'm not sure whether my musical tastes are as indie rock as they once were

I'd love to go to somewhere abroad for a festival. Roskilde sounds class.

ATP is the best festival. the bands are amazing, you have a pub open until 6 its comfortable, its indoors, your belongings are safe, its perfect, its not just for boys who wish they had girlfriends, its for people who are there to appreciate the music not the mindless drunkness and drug taking that all these goons make the focal point of their weekend at leeds and reading. long live ATP!

i agree totally with DIRTYDIRTYMIKE
except with the bit about the drunkeness. not thatyoure wrong- because youre right - its a good escape from underage - vodka swilling loudmouths - its just that at the slint one i may have been guilty of having a bit too much to drink - stealing a snowman from an abandoned staff room and throwing it at a fat american man @ 5 in the morning
