The Killers, The Futureheads, Bloc Party & Kaiser Chiefs should all hang their heads in shame. All of these bands have re-released their singles. I'm so disgusted. It's the most pointless thing ever.

The bands can only take a very small chunk of the blame. You need to look at the record companies. All of these bands are pretty much owned by their company and are obliged to do whatever the company says. That's modern day pop music, unfortunately. This may interest some of you diehard independent heads: www.mercenary.com/probwitmusby.html

I know you're right but I still want to throw eggs at the bands.

Releasing singles has to be the second worst crime against music ever (the first being a five string bass, yuk). Now ok maybe if the track was only released on vinyl on a small label first time round you'd allow the band a bit of leaway, i.e. Brand New released 'quiet things that no one knows' twice but the first time it was limited to 500 copies on vinyl only (some thing which I own ) but some bands just do it because they don't have better material and the worst has to be when the single wasnt that small in the first place anyway, top 5 worst rereleases: 1. Damien Rice - Cannonball (not only has now released almost every single on O, the album has been released about four times as well, also the released radio edit (the two worst words in the english dictionary) version of cannonball was awful, i mean shockingly bad, they added drums and bass line and yuk yuk yuk.....) 2. Jet - Are you going to be my girl (I MEAN IT WASNT EVEN AS IF THIS WAS A SMALL SINGLE IN THE FIRST PLACE IT WAS EVEN ON A HMV PROMOTIONAL DVD FIRST TIME ROUND FOR FUCKS SAKE. Also forgetting that it was the most obvious Lust For Life rippoff ever (not including the faders - 'no sleep tonight') I cant believe they got anyway with it for so long, and twice.) 3 - Killers - Somebody Told Me (again, this wasnt a small single, it was the song that broke the band in the first place, i mean i let them get away with rereleasing mr brightside because that was a small release (although it was released on all formats) but somebody told me was a massive hit, it'd be like franz ferdinand rereleasing take me out (something which i praise them for not doing) not only that but they've released about 5 singles from the album too, even foo fighters dont go that far, talk about overkill) 4 - Kasabian - Club Foot (these rereleases are just a ploy to get them radio play again and its so worked for kasabian as they are played on radio one EVERY HOUR, again this single had adverts on MTV2 every 30 second first time round. it wasnt a small release, it was the song that broke the band more or less) 5 - Futureheads - Decent Days (You know I really thought the 'heads had some decency about them, again this was a massive single when it was released first time round, just cause they released hounds of love (a cover! albiet a good one, still a cover) and became even bigger than before they're rereleasing the single that got them their main fanbase in the first place, i think its an insult to all those fans who bought it first time round but will have to buy it again now probably...i mean its not even as if they dont have other great tracks on their album anyway) I mean come on, is there really that much of a shortage of music out there? Of course not we all know there isnt thats why we're on this website. again, i should be greatful that this type of guitar stuff is being played rather than blue or yellow or what ever boy band but just because something is underground doesnt mean the public masses (another of two of the worst words in the english dictionary) wont enjoy it. Oh and I think kaiser chiefs rereleasing oh my god and bloc party rereleasing banquet are ok (oh my god was a tiny tiny DIS release, if the relrelease it again, which i wouldnt put past them, that would be shocking. banquet on the other hand is a tune and I dont mind hearing that on the radio again, also it was only an ep release last time wasnt it?)

Decent Days was on Burnout 3 too, so it's not lie it didnt get coverage.
Still, at least they made a better video for it.

The Killers are rereleasing every single theyve done it seems, what a shame, i didnt like most of it the first time round
I'm not going to complain too much as Boxer Rebellion will be rereleasing watermelon, which im not happy about purely because that songs best left for live as recordings dont do it justice (one reason they didnt release the album ages ago, which is why they were tipped to be the next best thing in 2003 but are now retipped in 2005(im drilling BR info into you now sorry). And also theres other great songs on their upcoming album that should get a chance at being a single. But im going to stop now because that info has no relevance at all, so please feel enlightened by it.

The Killers, The Futureheads, Bloc Party & Kaiser Chiefs Has anybody noticed that they are the bands that played on the MTV2/NME tour 2005? Weak.
